How to Write a Splendid Essay in the IELTS Test

Every section of the IELTS test is of utmost importance to get one a good score. However, there are many practice tests which produce results of the students who undertake them immediately. This is not possible for the writing section of the IELTS practice tests. This is because, for the listening and reading sections, there are correct answers, which can be only one right choice among four choices. However, for the speaking and the writing sections alone, this is not the case, as there are no specific answers, only good communication skills and coherent writing skills.

It is not easy to write a good essay as it requires not only good writing skills, but also creativity when it comes to jotting down various ideas to be included in it. Also one needs to be equipped with extensive vocabulary to make the essay look smart and sophisticated. Good grammar is the most important element in the essay too. So, to write a decent essay, one has to be good in English language in general.
There are five main steps to write an almost perfect essay for the IETLS test.
Step 1: Read the essay topic twice.
Read the question properly and decide what kind of essay it is - opinion, argumentative, compare/contrast, problem and solution, cause and effect, or a mixture. The type of question will decide the layout of the essay and your ideas.
Step 2: Spot the Keywords
Underline the key words present in the question and write words with the same or related meaning to be incorporated in the essay. This will really save you a lot of time later on. It will also help to avoid repetition of the same words, and will show that you understand the question.
Step 3: Brainstorming for the Body of the Essay
Decide if you are for or against the topic. Usually it is wise to give both opinions (for and against - one paragraph each) and then to proceed to give your opinion in the conclusion. This is one of the best way to write a lucid essay.
Step 4: Decide the Layout
You should decide on a layout. The easiest layout is the ‘3773’. That means that there will be four paragraphs: introduction (3 sentences) for the topic, (7 sentences), against the topic (7 sentences) and the conclusion (3 sentences). This will give you 20 sentences. An average of about 12 words each; that is 240 words. This is the correct length an essay in the IELTS exam should be, as the writing task II should consist of an essay of around 250 words.

I was searching for some basic topics of IELTS today then I reached on your page. And after reading full of IELTS I laughed a lot. Because, I don't even know the full form of IELTS before I started the IELTS training, after the first day of IELTS class when I reached home the first thing I searched on the internet is "what is full form of IELTS". It's funny but most of the students who are preparing for the IELTS test don't even know the full form of IELTS.
